“Watch For Our Re-Opening”
We are writing to tell you about the new directions our family has decided to take at the Pastime Bar and Grill, starting by dividing the ownership of the building from the running of a restaurant. The Pastime has played a unique role in Oroville for most of a century, a tradition we expect to continue. We will remain owners of the Pastime Building, a role that fits with the retirement chapter of life we are about to begin.
Our plan has always been to pass the torch, and now seems the right timing for all of us. To our daughter, Stacey Hinze, we will be giving over the running of a restaurant of her choosing. Having served as general manager since the Pastime Bar and Grill opened, she wishes to establish a new restaurant concept. Stacey worked tirelessly to help restore the building and to build the Pastime into the restaurant it is today. We know she will pour her heart and soul into this new endeavor that is her own.
We have enjoyed starting a new chapter for the Pastime and look forward to this next one, now beginning. Our last day of business as the Pastime Bar and Grill will be Thursday, September 4. We hope you will join us when Stacey is ready to launch her new concept later this fall. It has been our pleasure to serve you, and we appreciate your support.

The Pastime Bar and Grill offers a unique dining experience in Oroville. We strive to make our customers feel both comfortable and special in an atmosphere that is as much about the occasion as the food.
Virtually everything on our menu is made from scratch, in-house, from the beef and bison we grind to the sauces and dips we invent to the fries we hand-cut to the brownies and the ice cream we place on top. This is our standard for a memorable meal and what sets us apart.
Connecting with suppliers throughout Okanogan and beyond, we offer diners the freshest ingredients possible. Some produce is now grown specifically for the Pastime Bar and Grill. You’ll also find some Okanogan Valley wineries on our wine list and even a local craft brewery from around the corner.
As Okanogan bars go, the Pastime bar has quite a history. Legend has it that our handsome mahogany back bar, a local landmark of sorts, arrived in Oroville, WA via Cape Horn, sailing up the west coast of South America before reaching American shores.
As before, the Pastime is still Oroville’s place to meet, a cozy spot to weather a storm, a cool place to cool off, according to the season. We’ll keep the beer cold, the bar drinks varied and go on planning special events to entertain you.
Deepwater Blues Band does open jam sessions at the Pastime to give local talent a platform, we schedule bands some weekends and both pool and shuffleboard are always free. Whether you plan to spend happy hour with us or the entire evening, things are usually hoppin’ at the Pastime.
What People Are Saying
This place was impressive. It seems out of place in a small town like Oroville. It has a great bar and the menu was quite sophisticated. The New York steak was amazing, the best we’ve had in quite a while. Highly recommended!
Wow! Who would have thought a place like this would be found in Oroville, WA?! Pastime Bar & Grill has amazing charm and atmosphere, great food and the bartender that served us lunch on Thursday April 24, 2014, was outstanding! I think your second Pastime Bar & Grill should be located in Coeur d’Alene, ID!!
